姉妹都市交流のあゆみ02

アメリカ合衆国オレゴン州キャンビー市との交流は、1987年に札幌市国際交流室からの紹介で始まりました。
当時、札幌市とアメリカ合衆国オレゴン州ポートランド市とは30年の交流を重ねており、その内容の素晴らしさは、アメリカ国内の国際交流会議でも非常に高い評価を得ていました。このことから、ポートランド市の近隣にあるキャンビー市でも、自分たちも札幌近郊の町と国際交流をしたいとの要望があがり、札幌市国際交流室から、この話を栗沢町へとつないでくれたのが、交流のきっかけとなりました。

Our exchange with the American city of Canby, Oregon began after an introduction from the Sapporo International Exchange Office in 1987. Sapporo had just celebrated the thirty-year anniversary of it’s sister-city relationship with Portland, Oregon, and both cities had been recognized for their achievements. At that time, officials from Canby, a town on the outskirts of Portland, expressed an interest in establishing a relationship with a similarly situated town near Sapporo. Town officials in Kurisawa were approached, and thus began our sister-city exchange.

姉妹都市提携調印団及び随行団訪米
山田旧栗沢町長を団長とする、調印団（8名）及び随行団（12名）が訪米し、姉妹都市盟約書に署名を行い、調印を祝いました。

A delegation traveled to Canby for a signing ceremony.
Mayor Yamada of Kurisawa led a twenty-member delegation to the U.S. to sign our sister-city agreement and celebrate.

「陽昇塾」（町おこしグループ）がキャンビーワインの輸入に挑戦。
キャンビーワインとジャズの夕べを開催しました。
300名を超えるワイン党がワインとジャズに酔いました。

Yoshojyuku, a community development organization, begins importing wine from Canby. They organized a “Night of Canby Wine and Juice” in which over 300 participants got a bit tipsy on wine from Canby.

第1回中学生訪問団をキャンビー市へ派遣。以来、毎年中学生訪問団を派遣しています。

The first of what have become yearly junior-high delegations departs for Canby.

A delegation led by Mayor Yamada is sent to Canby to celebrate the tenth anniversary of our sister-city relationship.

栗沢太鼓同志会キャンビー市記念公演訪問団訪米

On the fifteenth anniversary of our sister-city relationship, a group of Taiko Drummers from Kurisawatraveled to Canby for a special performance.

栗沢町、北村と、岩見沢市との合併により、キャンビー市との姉妹都市関係が、岩見沢市として引き継がれています。

After the merger of Kurisawa-cho and Kita-mura with the neighboring city of Iwamizawa, the sister-cityrelationship was handed over to the city of Iwamizawa.

1990（平成2）年から、2008（平成20）年までの19年間（注意：2003年の派遣はなし）に、岩見沢市（旧栗沢町）からは128名の訪問団をキャンビー市に派遣しました。

During the nineteen-year period from 1990 to 2008, yearly delegations were sent to Canby, totaling 128 delegates.(except in 2003 when no delegation was sent)
